Spammer Goes to the Slammer

Spammer Goes to the Slammer - Weaselboy sentenced to six years for spamming/scamming

Spam is abhorrent. It clutters our in boxes. The best anti-spam techniques are imperfect. I use Microsoft Outlook 2003. It does a good job of detecting spam and moving it to the Junk E-Mail folder. Sometimes, a valid email will be sent to the Junk E-Mail folder, so it is necessary to view the contents of that folder to ensure that no valid email is missed. This methodology is preferable, I feel, to ISP spam filters, since valid email may be deleted by ISP spam filters, leaving one without knowledge of its existence.

In an ideal world, of course, no anti-spam, anti-virus, or anti-spyware techniques would be necessary. This is not an ideal world, however, and spam, viruses, and spyware are constant threats to all computer users.

It is very encouraging to see stiff prison sentences given to those who are convicted of sending these threats.
