International Town Criers Day, In the News, Food, and Enjoy

International Town Criers Day - Today is International Town Criers Day!

Today is the 15th anniversary of International Town Criers Day, celebrated on the second Monday of July.

The profession dates to medieval times. Town criers spread news by ringing a bell and bellowing information to large crowds. Newspapers eventually took over the role, but town criers still exist, mostly in a ceremonial role. All must be appointed by a municipal council.
