Born on this day in history: October 4, 1941 - Anne Rice (1941 - ) New Orleans writer Anne Rice gained a vast cult readership with her first novel, Interview with the Vampire (1976). After its success, Rice created three more books in her Vampire Chronicles, and wrote several more works. Despite her success, Rice renounced her vampire novels in 1998, after her return to the Catholic faith.
