National That Sucks Day - Today is National That Sucks Day!

The worst day of the year is apparently April 15. In fact, it is so bad that it has been named National That Sucks Day.

Part of what makes April 15 so sucky is that it is the day taxes are due. Congress changed the date from March 15 to April 15 in 1955 to help spread out the IRS workload that comes with tax season.

There was another reason for the change: Since the government was handing out more refunds as the income tax applied to middle-class citizens, the date change gave the government more time to retain and use the money.

Historically, some really tragic events have happened on April 15:

In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.

In 1912, the Titanic sunk, killing more than 1,500 passengers and crew members.

And in 2013, the Boston Marathon bombings left three people dead and more than 200 injured.

But that does not mean this April 15 has to be terrible! Enjoy the day!
