Born on this day in history: December 23, 1964 - Eddie Vedder (1964 - ) Born Edward Louis Severson in Evanston, Illinois, rocker Eddie Vedder shot to the top of the music charts when he fronted the band Pearl Jam in 1990. Vedder and his group became leaders of the grunge movement with their first album, Ten (1991), which became an instant hit. Vedder went on to contribute to several soundtracks such as Dead Man Walking, I Am Sam, and Into the Wild.
