Born on this day in history: December 7, 1952 - Ellen Burstyn (1932 - ) Born Edna Rae Gillooly in Detroit, Michigan, Ellen Burstyn left home at the age of 18 to work as a model, but soon moved on to acting. She won her first Oscar in 1974 for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, and her first Tony for Same Time, Next Year (1975). In 2008, she snagged her first Emmy for a guest performance on TV's "Law and Order: SVU."
