Born on this day in history: November 19, 1957 - 1957 - Billy Bragg (1957 - ) Born in Essex, England, songwriter Billy Bragg's debut album, Brewing Up with Billy Bragg (1984), hit No. 16 on the U.K. charts. In addition to his successful musical career, Bragg became a champion of populist activism in the mid-1980s. He is currently a board director for the Featured Artists Coalition, defending the rights of recording artists.
