On this Day in History: January 24, 1986 - Crackpot and founder of the fraudulent Scientology movement, L. Ron Hubbard dies. His bad science fiction writing has grown alarmly prolific in the years since his death.






Born on this Day in History: January 24, 1949 - John Belushi (1949 - 1982) Born in Chicago, Illinois, comedian John Belushi gained fame for memorable characters such as Samurai Futaba on "Saturday Night Live" (1974-9), John "Bluto" Blutarsky in the film Animal House (1978) and Jake Blues in The Blues Brothers (1980). In 2004, Belushi was honored posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
