Born on this Day in History: January 20, 1930 - Buzz Aldrin (1930 - ) Born in Montclair, New Jersey, astronaut Buzz Aldrin trained at West Point and set a record by walking in space for more than five hours during the Gemini 12 mission in 1966. During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, Aldrin was the second man to set foot on the Moon. In 2009, he earned the Congressional Gold Medal for his contributions to space flight.
