On this day in history: September 7, 1978 - Keith Moon, drummer for The Who, dies in his London residence from an overdose of chlormethiazole edisylate, a prescription drug used to treat alcoholism. Moon's flat, #12 Curzon Place, was the same spot where Mama Cass died of a heart attack in 1974.

Born on this day in history: September 7, 1930 - Sonny Rollins (1930 - ____) jazz musician. He was a tenor saxophonist who was among the finest improvisers on the instrument to appear since the mid-1950s.

New Balance is making athletic shoes for the U.S. market in a Chinese "sweatshop" where the human rights of workers regularly are abused and make just 32 cents an hour, according to a report by two international labor advocacy groups. The report, published jointly by the National Labor Committee and China Labor Watch, documents the conditions and harshly low wages at Li Kai Factory Number 5, presenting worker testimony and extensive photographs. Despite the allegations, the La Salle Bank Chicago Marathon, scheduled for October 22, has accepted New Balance for the ninth year as its official apparel and footwear sponsor.
