On this day in history: September 22, 1975 - In front of the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, Sara Jane Moore pulls out a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver and points it at Gerald Ford. Before she can assassinate the President, a bystander named Oliver Sipple grabs Moore's arm.

Born on this day in history: September 22, 1927 - Tommy Lasorda (1927 - ____) baseball manager. He managed the LA Dodgers to two World Series titles (1981, 1988; 1,422 regular-season wins in 18 years; retired in 1996.

I was overjoyed to learn that Steve Irwin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior before he died. Steve Irwin was a good man; he did a great deal for conservation. He said on several occasions that he honestly believed that the reason he was put on this earth was to raise awareness of the need for wildlife conservation and to protect animals and bushland for future generations. His American wife, Terri, is known for making surprise visits to local churches, bringing her children with her. Terri's Christian faith will help her cope with the grief and loss and will help guide her children to a deeper understanding of God's grace and mercy in this time of family sadness in the passing of their much-loved husband and father.
