On this day in history: August 7, 1882 - Ellison Hatfield is stabbed 26 times and shot in the back by Tolbert McCoy and two of his brothers. Two days later, the Hatfield clan captures the three McCoys and executes them by firing squad. Thus begins generations of bloodshed between the families, ultimately causing about 100 casualties.
Born on this day in history: August 7, 1975 - Charlize Theron (1975-) Born in rural Benoni, South Africa, Charlize Theron began modeling after she won a local competition. She traveled to New York to study dance, but a knee injury sidetracked her career. She moved on to acting, and won an Academy Award for her portrayal of a serial killer in the film "Monster," as well as an Oscar nomination for her role as a coal miner in "North Country." Theron is also a U.N. Messenger of Peace—one of only 10 in the world.

Rain! Apparently, it rained late last night or early this morning! It did not rain much. It did rain sufficiently to turn the dust that was on Mr. Nitro to unattractive mud spots.
Youth Fair Tomorrow, the annual youth fair will take place. This is a popular event that gives the young people of the area an opportunity to enjoy a free celebration in one of our local parks. Many diversions will await visitors. I shall photograph the event and make a slide show of select photographs available.
