The weatherpeople were wrong! The rain forecast for today has not arrived. It was 67 degrees in my office when I arrived at 7:30 AM. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, there is no wind, and the birds are singing! It was been a relatively dry winter, and we do need rain for the parched earth, but I certainly prefer warm, dry weather!

Yesterday was a beautiful day. It was still very warm outside at 7 PM when I tossed two huge New York strip steaks on the grill. Laura dry-rubbed them with a spicy mix and set them on the kitchen counter to reach room temperature. 30 minutes later, I seasoned a casserole dish of green beans with Cajun seasoning and cooked them in the microwave on high for 4 minutes. I tossed the steaks on the grill, over high flames. The flames licked at the steaks, charring their exteriors nicely. The interiors remained nice and rare. The dinner was delightful, and try though we did, we managed to devour only half of our steaks. Some wonderful leftovers await our dining pleasure later in the week.
