The Fog "The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on." Carl Sandburg understood the nature of fog. The fog was so dense at 6:30 AM this morning that it was not altogether unlike walking through a light rain—walking from the house to Mr. Nitro. With all three wipers engaged, the headlights and fog lights on, and the windshield and mirror defrosters warming the glass, I made the brief, 4-block journey to my office. By 7 AM, the fog had lifted sufficiently that the view in my Web cam was unobstructed, and I sat—sipping hot green tea with honey and watching the early-morning traffic move about on Solano Street.
