    Born on this Day in History: January 9, 1913 - Born in Yorba Linda, Calif., Richard M. Nixon was vice president to President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 1961 and the 37th President of the United States from 1969 to 1973 when he resigned facing almost certain impeachment for his role in the Watergate Scandal. He was the first American president to resign from office.






    On this Day in History: January 9, 2002 - The DOJ confirms reports that a criminal investigation of mega-corporation Enron has begun. The Texas energy profiteers gave loads of cash to the Republican party before accounting fraud and insider trading caused thousands of Enron employees to lose their savings and pensions.
