    Born on this Day in History: January 5, 1978 - Born in Sioux Falls, SD, January Jones is an American actress best known for her role as Betty Draper on the dramatic series "Mad Men." Jones started off modeling in N.Y.C., mostly in ads, but later moved to L.A. to pursue acting. Her supporting role in American Wedding (2003) brought her some attention, as well as her work in Love Actually. In 2007, she joined cast of the cable series "Mad Men."






    On this Day in History: January 5, 1996 - In Gaza, Israeli intelligence agents blow off the head of terrorist Yahya Ayyash, The Engineer, with a remote control cellphone bomb using plastic explosives. Ayyash purportedly ran the Hamas military wing, and was a proficient bomb maker; 100,000 people attended his funeral.
