    Born on this Day in History: October 31, 1950 - Journalist Jane Pauley was one of the best known morning TV personalities during the 1970s and 1980s, anchoring NBC's Today show for 13 years and Dateline NBC for another 12. Her work as been recognized with an Emmy and an American in Radio and Television Award. Aside from reporting, Pauley has written a book about her struggle with bipolar disorder titled, Skywriting: A Life out of the Blue.






    On this Day in History: October 31, 1993 - Actor River Phoenix dies of a drug overdose on the sidewalk in front of the Viper Room in West Hollywood.
