Yesterday, I made a potato salad with white potatoes (cooked for 5 minutes in the microwave, cooled, and diced), grated ginger, minced garlic, sliced red onion, chopped Thai basil, sliced chiles (four varieties), celery salt, ground black pepper, Italian seasoning, extra-virgin La Conda olive oil, and rice wine vinegar.

Laura did a dry rub on two racks of baby back ribs. She placed them bone-side down on the rear of the grill, with the rear burner off and the front burner on low. Every 20 minutes, she sprayed them with a mixture of 3 parts balsamic vinegar and 1 part extra-virgin La Conda olive oil.

While the ribs cooked, we played several games of backgammon and snacked on wasabi peas.

We anticipated the propane tank would expire during the rib-cooking process, and we had a fresh propane tank ready. As Laura was checking the ribs at the 2-hour point, the propane expired—precisely when the ribs reached perfection!

It was a wonderful Sunday meal.
