We had a glorious weekend at Harvest Christian Center: Saturday, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Rob Kee as pastor. A special program of worship was followed by short speeches given by various members of the congregation and a dessert social. Saturday and Sunday, the sermons were given by Pastor Rick Herring from Southern California, Rob's supervising pastor when he entered the ministry in 1991! Rick gave very powerful sermons. It was a glorious weekend of worship, praise, and fellowship!

My mother came to dinner on Sunday. I produced a pasta salad consisting of penne, garbanzo beans, kidney beans, julienne red onion, chopped heart of celery, sliced red bell pepper, and marinated artichoke hearts. The dressing was La Conda extra-virgin olive oil, rice wine vinegar, ground ginger, garlic powder, celery salt, ground black pepper, and other herbs and spices. Laura mixed it after I produced it and applied a sprinkling of Hungarian paprika and placed it in the refrigerator to chill. We also had grilled giant shrimp and grilled boneless, skinless chicken breasts. The marinade for the shrimp and chicken consisted of La Conda extra-virgin olive oil, rice wine vinegar, grated fresh ginger, minced garlic, celery salt, and other herbs and spices. We also had toasted garlic bread. The meal was a great success. Mother took with her a care package of leftovers, and Laura slithered off to work this morning with a bounty of leftovers in tow.
