On this day in history: May 10, 1924 - Attorney General Harlan Fiske Stone selects J. Edgar Hoover to head the Bureau of Investigation, later known as the FBI. He will remain at the post until his death 48 years later.

Born on this day in history: May 10, 1899 - Fred Astaire (1899 - 1987) dancer, actor. He was the leading dance star of his generation in "Top Hat," 1935 and "Daddy Long Legs," 1955.

Corning's annual car show, May Madness, begins tonight with a mixer at Corning Ford. Tomorrow afternoon, there will be burnout eliminations and a cruise. Saturday will feature burnout finals and a show and shine.
