Dinner - Last night's dinner was simple yet superb: Laura selected an especially fine-looking tri-tip at the market. I seasoned it with garlic-pepper seasoning, ground black pepper, and Pappy's. Laura washed a large Idaho potato, wrapped it with a damp paper towel, and placed it in the microwave. I preheated a Calphalon grill pan to medium-high, sprayed it with Pam, tossed the steak onto it, and covered it loosely with a "tent" of aluminum foil. Laura washed a quantity of broccoli and tossed it into a Calphalon pot of boiling water. She cooked the potato for five minutes while I tended to the steak. I had shopped and cleaned the kitchen prior to Laura's arrival at our nest, and I felt weary. She gracefully assumed the completion of the dinner preparation. She cooked the potato for an additional 5 minutes, drained the broccoli when it had cooked for 7 minutes, and finalized the grilling of the steak. The dinner was superb. Grilling Weather and Enjoy
Grilling Weather - Yesterday was perfect grilling weather! Laura put a wonderful dry rub on an excellent tri-tip. Enjoy - Relax and enjoy these images and videos!

Laura also prepared some chicken tenders with a spicy dry rub. I grilled the tri-tip over high heat on our Weber grill. When the tri-tip was nicely charred, I placed the chicken tenders and corn on the grill and turned the burners under the food to low. I maintained high heat on the opposite side.

Laura kept the food moist while it grilledspraying in each 20 minutes with a mixture of 1/4 extra-virgin olive oil and 3/4 balsamic vinegar.
I prepared a delightful salad with Italian greens, pear tomatoes, crimini mushrooms, green onions, and avocado.

Laura brought the food inside. I let the tri-tip rest for five minutes. I sliced the tri-tip and marveled at its beauty.

The chicken will be used for lunches throughout the week. The salad, tri-tip, and corn provided a wonderful evening meal.

The meal was so good that Laura declared a redux was in order for this evening. I offered no resistance to this suggestion!

World Humanitarian Day, Time to Grill!, and WOW!
World Humanitarian Day - World Humanitarian Day is a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others. The day was designated by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq. Time to Grill! - Laura selected a tri-tip at the market that simply screamed to me to be tossed upon the grill! I suffered the 106-degree heat and presented this to the table: WOW! - WOW! says it all!

19 August, 2013 marks 10 years since that tragic event, which claimed 22 lives. This year, the international community will pause to remember those who died, as well as the dozens of aid workers, who have died in the years since.

But World Humanitarian Day is also an opportunity to celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian work around the globe. This year the UN and its humanitarian partners are launching a ground-breaking campaign called The world needs more… This is a first-of-its-kind project that will quite literally turn words into aid.

Food
Food - I fell ill Friday afternoon. While not fully recovered, I am considerably better today and expect to be completely well soonthe result of Laura's care of me during my period of illness.
For several days, I slept little at night and maintained a languid state during the day. I had no appetite and ate little until yesterdayat which time Laura produced such a feast that a great lust for food was awakened within me.
Laura placed an excellent dry-rub on a nice tri-tip.

She washed a quantity of little neck clams and placed them in a bamboo steamer.

She steamed the clams perfectly and served them with a dipping sauce made of extra-virgin garlic-infused olive oil, Pappy's Seasoning, butter, and basil. This was a wonderful appetizer.

She grilled the tri-tip perfectlyseared and crunchy on the outside and rare in the center.

At the table, I used wasabi as a condiment for the tri-tip. Laura used teriyaki sauce.

Laura baked some Ore-Ida Fast Food Fries to complete the delicious meal.
