Born on this Day in History: February 17, 1962 - Born on a military base in the Philippines, Lou Diamond Philips rose to fame with a series of hit films in the late 1980s, including La Bamba, Stand and Deliver, and Young Guns. After a few flops in the early 1990s, Philips earned a Tony nomination for his work in The King and I on Broadway. He continues to make television appearances, and plays poker competitively.
