Born on this Day in History: July 6, 1935 - ( 1935) Born Tenzin Gyatso in Taktser, China, the 14th Dalai Lama is the spiritual head of Tibet. After the 1959 Tibetan uprising, he was forced into exile, settling in Punjab, India. In 1989, the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace.
