    Born on this Day in History: June 12, 1924 - Born in Milton, Massachusetts, George H.W. Bush fought in WWII and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. He was Ronald Reagan's VP for two terms and then won the 1998 presidential race, losing his bid for a second term to Bill Clinton.

    On this Day in History: June 12, 1987 - In one of his most famous Cold War speeches, President Ronald Reagan challenges Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. Two years later, deliriously happy East and West Germans did break down the infamous barrier between East and West Berlin.

    Born on this Day in History: June 11, 1956 - Joe Montana was born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania. He was selected late in the third round of the draft by San Francisco 49er coach Bill Walsh and went on to lead the 49ers to victories in four Super Bowls during the 1980s, including consecutive wins in 1989 and 1990. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993 before retiring. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

    On this Day in History: June 11, 1955 - A race car in Le Mans, France, goes out of control and crashes into stands filled with spectators, killing 82 people. The tragedy in the famous 24-hour race leads to a ban on racing in several nations.

    Born on this Day in History: June 8, 1867 - Frank Lloyd Wright was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin. After college, he became chief assistant to architect Louis Sullivan. Wright then founded his own firm and developed a style known as the Prairie school, which strove for an "organic architecture" in designs for homes and commercial buildings. Over his career he created numerous iconic buildings. He died April 9, 1959.

    On this Day in History: June 8, 1948 - A hand-built aluminum prototype labeled "No. 1" becomes the first vehicle to bear the name of one of the world's leading luxury car manufacturers: Porsche. The Austrian automotive engineer Ferdinand Porsche debuted his first design at the World's Fair in Paris in 1900. The electric vehicle set several Austrian land-speed records, reaching more than 35 mph and earning international acclaim for the young engineer. He became general director of the Austro-Daimler Company (an outpost of the German automaker) in 1916 and later moved to Daimler headquarters in Stuttgart. Daimler merged with the Benz firm in the 1920s, and Porsche was chiefly responsible for designing some of the great Mercedes racing cars of that decade.

    Born on this Day in History: June 7, 1981 - Anna Kournikova is a Russian professional tennis player. At age 15, she reached the fourth round of the U.S. Open, and at age 16 she reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon. In 1999, she won two Grand Slam doubles titles with partner Martina Hingis. However, she was soon ranking quite low in tournaments. Despite her losing record, her fame grew thanks to her modeling career and personal life.

    On this Day in History: June 7, 1913 - On this day in 1913, Hudson Stuck, an Alaskan missionary, leads the first successful ascent of Mt. McKinley, the highest point on the American continent at 20,320 feet. Stuck, an accomplished amateur mountaineer, was born in London in 1863. After moving to the United States, in 1905 he became archdeacon of the Episcopal Church in Yukon, Alaska, where he was an admirer of Native Indian culture and traveled Alaska's difficult terrain to preach to villagers and establish schools.

    Born on this Day in History: June 6, 1947 - Actor Robert Englund showed an interest in acting at a young age, taking drama courses when was only 12. Director Wes Craven noticed him in his role as a sympathetic alien invader in the television miniseries "V" and cast him for Freddy Krueger, the fictional serial killer in the Nightmare on Elm Street horror films. The role turned Englund into a icon in the horror movie industry.

    On this Day in History: June 6, 1933 - Eager motorists park their automobiles on the grounds of Park-In Theaters, the first-ever drive-in movie theater, located on Crescent Boulevard in Camden, New Jersey.
