Donald Trump for President of the United States

Donald Trump - Donald Trump is a candidate for the office of President of the United States.

Donald Trump said that America was once great. I fully agree!

America was once very easily the greatest nation extant. America was, indeed, "...the land of the free and the home of the brave..."

Mr. Trump says he can make America great again. He may well be the only person running for President who is capable of such a daunting task!

Donald Trump says what he thinks, means what he says, and—most importantly—has the resolve necessary to effectuate such a return to greatness.

He holds career politicians in low regard—making the valid point that they have no business sense. Additionally, they prioritize the special-interest groups that financed their elections. Mr. Trump needs no such funding and, therefore, has no allegiance whatever to such special-interest groups.

The rhetoric of politicians and the mainstream media is stultifying. It drones and regurgitates endlessly in a miasma of failed ideas and owed favors. Mr. Trump would have none of that.

The Weather: I prayed for a respite from the rain for Friday evening, so that the Harvest Festival at Harvest Christian Center could be enjoyed by thousands of local youth. My prayer was answered! It rained earlier in the day, and there was a light sprinkling late in the afternoon, but the rain abated completely during the festival, there was no wind, and the temperature was pleasant. 18 gallons of chili was enjoyed—along with hot chocolate, several hundred cookies, popcorn, and an incredible quantity of candy. It was a wonderful event. I shall have a slide show available for viewing soon and will alert readers when this is ready.

Saturday was extremely wet and uninviting. I made Barilla thick spaghetti with Italian sausage, mushrooms, and Classico marinara sauce. I also made garlic toast. My brother came to dinner.

Sunday, the sun returned, and it was sufficiently warm that I was able to open several doors and windows. The cats thoroughly enjoyed lounging by the open front door, relaxing and sniffing at the great outdoors.

My brother came to dinner Sunday. Most likely, he shall be returning to Southern California Tuesday or Wednesday. I marinated three large, thick New York strip steaks in extra-virgin olive oil, granulated garlic, lemon pepper, Italian seasoning, and Merlot. I marinated huge prawns (deveined, tails removed) in extra-virgin olive oil, rice wine vinegar, granulated garlic, lemon pepper, ground ginger, lime juice, and powdered wasabi. I grilled the steaks and prawns over a very high flame—charring the steaks nicely on the outside, while leaving the center nice and rare. The prawns were succulent and wonderful, not unlike small lobster tails. Laura baked a quantity of steak fries in the conventional oven. It was a delightful meal.

VOTE! If you have not already voted (Laura and I have. We vote absentee always.) do not neglect voting tomorrow! It is important that you exercise your right to vote—unless, of course, you intend not to vote for John McCain. In this case, it would be best that you stay home!

Thousands of young people are expected to attend this free alternative to Halloween. I shall photograph the event and will produce a slide show from the photographs. The weather was beautiful over the weekend. One of my brothers—visiting from Southern Californai—came to dinner Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, I made shrimp Alfredo. I cleaned 65 medium shrimp and simmered them in Classico Alfredo sauce. When the sauce was ready, I sprinkled parsley atop it, and Laura incorporated the sauce into the Barilla thick spaghetti that I had cooked al denté. We also had toasted garlic bread. It was a delicious meal. Leftovers followed Laura to work Monday. Sunday, Laura grilled Tyson boneless, skinless chicken breasts—slathering them as the grilled with Jack Daniels barbecue sauce. I steamed whole kernel corn, peas, and pearl onions in the microwave in a covered casserole dish and toasted garlic bread. It was an excellent dinner.

Last evening for dinner, we had leftover beef that I produced Friday by simmering London broil in spring water, beef bouillon, diced white onion, minced garlic, diced Jalapeño, chopped celery, ground chile de arbo, ground cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, cumin, and Tony Chachere's More Spice. This mixture simmered until the beef shredded and the liquid dissipated. I made fresh salsa to accompany the burritos we made with the beef mixture. It was a wonderful meal.

    We say please move on

    Cause we're standing strong

That's an old John McCain tradition

    CHORUS

The Howling Wind and Falling Temperature The wind is howling again today—as it did yesterday. I had a photo shoot yesterday morning that was cancelled due to the howling wind. At least it was warm yesterday—albeit cold in the morning (52 degrees), it was warm in the afternoon (low 90s). Today, it is forecast to be a mere 77 degrees at peak temperature, and tomorrow is forecast to be a bone-chilling 70-degree high! Soon, it shall be requisite to don long trousers, socks, and shoes! How I loathe the thought.

A Preacher's test for his son

An old country preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn't really know what he wanted to do, and he didn't seem too concerned about it.

One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy's room and placed on his study table four objects:

    1. A bible.
    2. A silver dollar.
    3. A bottle of whisky.
    4. And a Playboy magazine.

'I'll just hide behind the door,' the old preacher said to himself. 'When he comes home from school today, I'll see which object he picks up. If it's the bible, he's going to be a preacher like me, and what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he's going to be a business man, and that would be okay, too. But if he picks up the bottle, he's going to be a no-good drunken bum, and Lord, what a shame that would be. And worst of all if he picks up that magazine he's going to be a skirt-chasing womanizer.'

The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son's footsteps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his room.

The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave the room, he spotted the objects on the table. With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.

Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm.

He picked up the silver dollar and dropped into his pocket.

He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink, while he admired this month's centerfold.

'Lord have mercy,' the old preacher disgustedly whispered. 'He's gonna run for the Senate!'

Tonight's Vice Presidential Debate will be an outstanding opportunity for Sarah Palin to assuage supports and astound critics!

I predicted Sarah Palin would be John McCain's choice for running mate long prior to the announcement. The nearly universal response was, "Who"? I have followed Palin's career for years with great interest, and when I made the prediction, I was certain that it would be greeted with disbelief. I was correct. When McCain announced his choice of Palin, however, many asked, "How in the world did you know?" The simple truth is I did not know! I sensed that McCain would choose her, and I expressed that sense as a prediction.

I will make another prediction: I predict that Sarah Palin will be victorious tonight and do so by a wide margin!

    Go, Sarah!

Dirty Tricks! I make my prediction with the full knowledge that there are dark forces working to thwart Sarah Palin's victory. As if it were not sufficient that the moderator be selected—as was the moderator for the McCain-Biden debate—from the murky pond of ultra-liberal Obama enthusiasts at PBS, there is now the issue that the moderator of tonight's debate, Gwen Ifill, is apparently a book to come out the time the next president takes office, and the book is very favorable to Barack Obama!

Simply put, if Obama wins the presidency, Ifill's book will quickly become a best seller. For every 100,000 copies sold, Ifill will receive approximately $350,000! That certainly gives her a vested interest in Obama's election! John McCain was, quite simply, entirely too accepting of this choice of moderator (see today's video), and I believe Ifill should be replaced summarily!

    The United Way

The United Way realized that it had never received a donation from the city's most successful lawyer. So a United Way volunteer paid the lawyer a visit in his lavish office.

The volunteer opened the meeting by saying, "Our research shows that even though your annual income is over two million dollars, you don't give a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give something back to your community through the United Way?"

The lawyer thinks for a minute and says, "First, did your research also show you that my mother is dying after a long, painful illness and she has huge medical bills that are far beyond her ability to pay?"

Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbles, "Uh... no, I didn't know that."

"Secondly," says the lawyer, "did it show that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair and is unable to support his wife and six children?" The stricken United Way rep begins to stammer an apology, but is cut off again.

"Thirdly, did your research also show you that my sister's husband died in dreadful car accident, leaving her penniless with a mortgage and three children, one of whom is disabled and another that has learning disabilities requiring an array of private tutors?"

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, says, "I'm so sorry, I had no idea."

And the lawyer says, "So . . . if I didn't give any money to them, what makes you think I'd give any to you?"

The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It is on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units. As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter-terrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's. She's also the Commander in Chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF ), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counter-terrorism plans. Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we do not even know about. According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

Laura was unduly fatigued last evening, so I attended Bible class alone. I set the DVR to record Sarah Palin's speech and departed for Harvest Christian Center. When I returned home, Laura excitedly urged me to play the recording.

Assuming the role of Republican Rottweiler, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani—in his keynote address—dismissed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama as a "celebrity senator" without leadership experience or significant accomplishment, ridiculing his years as a community organizer in Chicago. Giuliani's speech was powerful and invoked considerable cheering and applause—along with a goodly amount of laughter. His speech was an outstanding lead-in to Sarah Palin's speech.

When Sarah Palin stood before the audience, the ovation was thundering, and it seemed that it would be endless—prompting Brit Hume to humorously question whether the audience would allow Palin to speak. It was reportedly the longest and most enthusiastic ovation ever given a political figure.

Sarah Palin's sensational performance at the Republican Party Convention may turn out to be the turning point of the election. Barak Obama enthusiasts hoping she would fall flat on her big night were in for a nasty shock. Her speech turned the election upside down. It was simply stunning. Democrats and their left-wing media backers had been sneering that she was a small town nobody—a hick from the Alaskan sticks put into a job well beyond her capabilities. Believe me, you will not hear that inanity repeated! Sarah Palin emerged as an electrifying mix of intelligence, passion, energy, optimism and plain speaking.

When Sarah Palin concluded her speech, the audience approval was thundering. It continued as her son, daughters, baby, husband, parents, and her oldest daughter's fiancé joined her.

When the roar from the crowd began to subside, an unexpected appearance by John McCain brought the audience to a frenzied state of roaring approval of what will most likely be the next President and Vice President of the United States!

Sarah Palin - the next Vice President of the United States!

The wind that plagued us for most of this past Labor Day weekend is gone. It was a fierce wind that attempted to thwart our weekend grilling. I did not allow this, however!

Friday, I made shrimp étouffée, using Tony Chachere's jambalaya rice mix, Tony Chachere's étouffée sauce, and medium shrimp. It was delicious.

Saturday, I grilled thick top sirloin steaks (that Laura marinated earlier in the day), asparagus, and red potatoes. Laura produced a delightful accompaniment of sliced mushrooms and white onions, which she sautéed in extra-virgin olive oil, granulated garlic, ground black pepper, and Tony Chachere's More Spice.

Sunday, I sautéed rock fish fillets, seasoned with Tony Chachere's More Spice, lemon pepper, granulated garlic, and ground ginger and topped with thin slices of cluster tomatoes and chopped green onion.

Yesterday, I grilled two huge pork tenderloins, which I marinated in a mixture of extra-virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar, Tony Chachere's More Spice, ground ginger, granulated garlic, ground black pepper, molasses, brown sugar, and Gebhardt's chili powder. I made a pot of Cajun beans, using sliced white onion, sliced garlic, diced Jalapeños, diced cluster tomatoes, red beans, ground black pepper, ground cumin, Tony Chachere's More Spice, and Gebhardt's chili powder. I charred the tenderloins on all sides and grilled the them for two hours—turning and mopping every 15 minutes with the marinade. I grilled three Tyson boneless, skinless chicken breasts and mopped them as they cooked with the marinade. The chicken breasts shall be used in an Oriental chicken dish this evening. This was a particularly delightful meal. Laura exclaimed that it was the best pork she had ever enjoyed. That speaks volumes, since we have produced many extraordinarily tasty pork meals over the years!

MY PREDICTION: I have put a good deal of thought into this, and I am predicting that Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin will be John McCain’s choice for vice president. Palin is a bold, first-term Republican governor, a former beauty pageant winner, and a mother of five. She would bring an energy—a dynamism—to the campaign and could help McCain win several battleground states.

The weather appears to have returned to "normal." It was a high of 102 degrees yesterday, and it is forecast to reach 99 degrees today. The rain that lasted a few seconds early yesterday morning did not return, the storm clouds disappeared, and the lightning strikes ceased. There were no reports of new fires from the lightning strikes. All appears well.

UPDATE: I was mistaken! SEVENTEEN new fires resulted from the lightning strikes! For the most part, these new fires are under control.

Maui, on the other hand, is suffering the worst cold spell in the history of that island!

For dinner Tuesday evening, I cut vegetables and made rice, and Laura stir-fried sliced chicken breasts and the vegetables. Laura dusted the chicken slices with cornstarch, Tony Chachere's More Spice, ground black pepper, and powdered ginger. She stir-fried the chicken until it was browned and added the vegetables—sliced white onion, sliced garlic, sliced mushrooms, sliced celery, and sliced Serrano peppers. When the vegetables were nearly done, she added a package of sugar snap peas and stir-fried for another minute. It was a delicious meal. I added Chinese hot sauce to my rice, topped with the stir-fry, and placed a dollop of wasabi paste on my plate. Laura added teriyaki sauce to her rice and vegetables.

Warm weather is coming! Today is forecast to be 72 degrees; Thursday is forecast to be 81 degrees; Friday is forecast to be 83 degrees; and Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be in the high 80s! YES!

For dinner last evening, I employed the remains of a large beef roast and the attendant juices from Sunday's dinner. I shredded the roast and simmered for two hours with two heads of peeled garlic cloves, a large sliced white onion, two large sliced Jalapeño peppers, three stalks of sliced celery, four large sliced white mushrooms, three cups of baby spinach leaves, a can of beef consommé, a half cup of Almaden Cabernet Sauvignon, two cups of brown rice, Tony Chachere's More Spice, ground black pepper, sea salt, and ground cumin. It was delicious, and a great quantity remains for a future meal.
