On this day in history: August 27, 1990 - Blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan is killed when his Bell 206B helicopter crashes into a man-made ski hill near Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

Born on this day in history: August 27, 1910 - Mother Teresa (1910 - 1997) Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, missionary Mother Teresa went to India in 1928, taking her final vows in 1937. In 1957 she began work with lepers and in disaster areas of the world. In 2003, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II.

On this day in history: October 23, 1988 - A concert-goer at a Skinny Puppy show in Cincinnati mistakes a stuffed dog, a prop that undergoes "vivisection" during the performance, for a live dog and calls the cops. Even after the police establish no real animals have been harmed, bandmates Nivek Ogre and Cevin Key, along with their tour manager, are arrested on disorderly conduct charges. They spend the night in jail and are fined $200.

Born on this day in history: October 23, 1925 - Johnny Carson (1925 - 2005) talk show host, comedian. He is famous as a stand up comic and the host of "The Tonight Show," 1962-92.

Born on this day in history: August 27, 1910 - Mother Teresa (1910 - 1997) nun, missionary. She is the famous "Saint of the Gutters" who has devoted her life to caring for lepers and poor in India; awarded the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.
