The Weather: Weather forecasts have been in a continuous state of flux lately. It is difficult to place any credibility on weather reports. It is more realistic to simply look out the window and propose—based upon what one sees outside that window—what the weather shall be for the balance of the day. This methodology was not particularly successful this morning, however: When I looked through the window of our home and viewed the sidewalk outside, I made the forecast that today would be dry. The sidewalk was dry, and it did not appear that it had rained recently. 30 minutes later, however, I peered at the live feed from my Web cam on my desktop and saw that the rain was descending amain! The wind that howled all night has not abated. It is a fierce wind that accompanies the rain. My new forecast is for a truly hideous, wet, windy, dark, dismal day! Nonetheless, I shall rejoice in the day, since it is the day the Lord has made for us!

The weather was beautiful over the weekend—sunny and warm. Yesterday morning, there was an unwelcome wind, but it did not last long. This morning, the sun continues to shine, the sky is blue, there is no wind, and birds are singing loudly.

One of my brothers came to dinner last evening. I made a marinade (extra-virgin olive oil, rice wine vinegar, minced garlic, lime juice, Tony Chachere's More Spice, and ground black pepper) Saturday. Laura placed 7 large Tyson boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a zip-lock bag, covered with the marinade, and placed in the refrigerator. She turned the chicken over several times throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Laura sings with the worship group at Harvest Christian Center every other month, and this is one of the months she sings. We went to church separately yesterday, and I departed following the early service. I produced a pasta salad with Barilla large shells (cooked al denté, of course), garbanzo beans, kidney beans, sweet peas, sliced red onion, sliced celery, grape tomatoes, sliced red bell pepper, Tony Chachere's More Spice, Italian seasoning, ground black pepper, lime juice, mayonnaise, and wasabi paste.

Laura grilled the chicken perfectly (nice char marks on the outside and moist throughout). I made a quantity of toasted garlic bread. The meal was delightful. Laura had Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon, my brother had Almaden Chardonnay, and I had Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale.

Following dinner, we watched "Next." [Las Vegas magician Cris Johnson (Nicolas Cage) can see a few minutes into the future, an ability he uses to enhance his shows -- and to win at blackjack. But when FBI counterterror agent (Julianne Moore) wants his help in thwarting a nuclear attack on Los Angeles, Cris finds his psychic skills put to the ultimate test. Based on Philip K. Dick's short story "The Golden Man," this sci-fi thriller co-stars Jessica Biel and Peter Falk.] The movie had excellent special effects, was well-produced, well-acted, and entertaining. I highly recommend it.
