Born on this day in history: July 22, 1947 - Danny Glover (1947– ) Born in San Francisco, actor Danny Glover got his break in "The Color Purple" (1985). He went on to play both villains and heroes, starring in the "Lethal Weapon" movie series. In 1998, Glover was appointed a UN goodwill ambassador.

Laura and I attended David Woods' Crusade at Harvest Christian Center last evening. Laura sang on the worship team. This was the second evening of the Crusade, which will run through Friday evening. David Woods is a gifted speaker, and his message was powerful and well-received.

Laura and I began a Bible study program called "The Lord's Table" last Saturday. It is a Bible-based, 60-Day interactive course that will teach one to enjoy a newfound relationship with the Lord and how to find freedom from bad eating habits. The course is taught at Harvest Christian Center each Saturday morning and will last 12 weeks.

We are following the scheduled eating plan. Yesterday, the first day, was a "half day," meaning we ate half of what we would otherwise eat. Today is a "liquid day." Any liquids are allowed, but no solid food is to be eaten. We have V8 Juice, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, and beef consommé. Tomorrow, will be a "normal day." And so it goes.

On this day in history: December 14, 1944 - Lupe Velez, Hollywood's "Mexican Spitfire" of the 1940's, commits suicide with an overdose of sleeping pills.

Born on this day in history: December 14, 1946 - Patty Duke
(1946-) Actress. Born Anna Marie Duke on December 14, 1946 in Elmhurst, New York. Patty Duke started off in commercials, a few movies and some bit parts. Her first big role came in 1951 when she was cast as Helen Keller in the Broadway version of "The Miracle Worker." In 1962, the play was turned into a feature film, and Patty won an Academy Award for best supporting actress. At 16, she was the youngest person ever to win the award.

Initially, I thought it was warmer this morning than it was yesterday morning. I based this concept solely upon the fact that Mr. Nitro was covered with frost yesterday and wore no frost this morning. Imagine my disappointment when I saw Mr. Nitro's temperature display show that it was actually 29 degrees—3 degrees colder than yesterday morning! A half-hour later, the temperature has climbed to 31 degrees. Yikes! Fortunately, it is 70 degrees in my office!

Today's video is the chase scene from "Bullit." In my opinion, this is the greatest movie chase scene ever filmed. A friend and I were in San Francisco while the movie was being filmed. We had no idea what was taking place until we inquired why the street was blocked off and why such a crowd of people had gathered. We did not get to see much, other than a very brief glimpse of the Mustang chasing the Charger. We were excited to have accidentally happened upon this event, however, and eagerly awaited the release of the movie. At that time, I was a Ford enthusiast and had a 1966 Ford Mustang GT. Understandably, I cheered Steve McQueen as he chased the 1968 Dodge Charger with his 1968 Ford Mustang. In 1980, I became a Dodge enthusiast and have purchased only Dodge products since then. Understandably, I now cheer for the Dodge Charger—even though I am fully aware of the outcome of the chase!
