On this day in history: November 3, 1957 - Laika the dog becomes the first living creature in space. She asphyxiated when oxygen in the Soviet Sputnik 2 ran out. However, some western researchers speculate that Laika roasted when the satellite's heat shields were detached.




Born on this day in history: November 3, 1949 - Anna Wintour (1949 - ) Born in London, England, Anna Wintour became an international fashion icon as editor-in-chief of the highly influential Vogue magazine. She is known for her oversized dark glasses, sharp bob hairstyle, and icy demeanor. In 2009, the documentary September Issue, was made about Wintour and the largest issue of the Vogue published.
